The Mother's Tree
This was an adaptation of an ancient African folk tale about starving animals who go on a search together to find food and learn humility and respect in the process as the littlest one among them saves the day. In 2007, this tale became the focal point for a collaborative effort involving 350 students and eight professional artists acting as facilitators for the project. Glenn was the originator of the concept, wrote the music and helped coordinate. Elizabeth was the choreographer. Presented in 400 seat Algonquin Theatre to two full houses, this project was the first of Glenn and Elizabeth's collaborative partnership.

Glenn Copeland Listen to 'Song for Mother Earth' and 'Monkey Brains' from 'The Mother's Tree' Don't Sit This One Out When they learn that the oceans are dying, Sophie Sweetwater and her friend, Sky, want to know why the adults aren't doing anything. They take to the streets, and after their conversation with Marion-too-busy-to-care, they decide to take matters into their own hands and call in some divine assistance.
This play emerged from a discussion with half a dozen youth who sincerely did not understand why, when faced with the crisis of dying oceans and increasingly alarming climate events, most adults did not seem to know or care.
